Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, unless there are government regulations restricting travel out of your local area, you are welcome to stay here at The Old Granary during the current pandemic. If you have already booked to stay with us and are unable to travel due to a new local travel ban, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Please note that if government restrictions prevent us from welcoming guests over the duration of your stay, we will need to cancel your booking. If your booking is cancelled due to government regulations concerning Covid-19 and you have booked directly with us, you will receive a full refund, including any deposit. If you have booked through an online travel agency (e.g Air BnB, Booking.com or Expedia) we cannot guarantee what value refund you will receive due to their Terms and Conditions. We will always do our best to help retrieve refunds where possible. Our usual Terms and Conditions apply if Covid-19 government regulations do not affect your booking.

As previous guests will know, we have always taken pride in the high levels of cleanliness throughout our apartments.

We will continue to clean thoroughly, paying particular attention to high traffic areas such as light switches, door handles and staircases.

We have invested in a commercial standard, catering biocide to ensure a very high level of cleanliness throughout this crisis.

All mattress and pillow protectors are removed and washed after each guest.

Social distancing rules are adhered to throughout The Old Granary and across the farm where possible.

If you are staying for longer than six nights, please speak with us about our mid week cleaning/linen policy.

If you have any questions about our processes or procedures,  or would like a copy of our Covid-19 policy, please contact us, we will be happy to talk this through.

If you display Covid-19 symptoms before your arrival at The Old Granary, according to Government advice you should self isolate for 14 days at your primary place of residence. Please call us to let us know.  Do Not travel to or arrive at The Old Granary. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer a refund in this situation.

If you are already at The Old Granary and display Covid -19 symptoms, you are responsible for letting us know this as soon as possible (01652 462 482).  Government guidelines state that you are to self isolate for 14 days in your primary residence, you should make arrangements to return home as soon as possible, should your health allow this. We will then carry out a full deep clean of the area.

You will be charged for all additional costs incurred by The Old Granary, including, but not limited to, additional nights of accommodation for you, or the cancellation or re-location of future guests.

According to the NHS, Covid-19 symptoms include:

– High temperature

– New, continuous cough

– Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Outbreaks of Covid -19 at The Old Granary

We will follow Public Health England (PHE) advice in the event of a suspected outbreak.  We ask that you comply with any additional measures that may be put in place.

Guest Hygiene

We ask that all guests support us by maintaining regular handwashing, particularly upon entering and exiting their apartment. Please also use the Biocide provided to ensure all surfaces and door handles are kept clean.

Our Responsibilities.

We will continue to provide a high level of cleanliness at The Old Granary, paying particular attention to high traffic areas such as light switches, door handles and staircases.

We have invested in a commercial standard, catering biocide to ensure a very high level of cleanliness throughout this crisis, a labelled bottle of this can be found in your apartment underneath your sink which you are welcome to use.

Visit England are working to produce a Covid-19 hygiene kite mark, this will be allocated to businesses complying to specific guidelines and we aim to achieve this as soon as it is released.

Social distancing rules are adhered to throughout The Old Granary and across the farm where possible, we expect our guests to do the same.

If you are staying for longer than six nights, please speak with us about our mid-week cleaning/linen policy.

As The Old Granary is located on a working farm, in order to keep your furry friends safe, we do not allow pets. Sorry!

While smoking is not allowed inside any of the properties, we do offer comfortable and convenient outside seating areas where it is permitted.

Our aim is to make your stay with us as convenient as possible, which is why we offer one car parking space per bedroom. If you require additional car parking please get in touch with us prior to your arrival date.

We welcome all guests and our accommodation has been designed with accessibility in mind. You can read our access statement here.

We do indeed! Upon arrival, all properties will have a welcome pack that includes fresh bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, sugar, a selection of cereal and some locally produced Pipers Crisps!

We aim to provide most items you will require for the duration of your stay. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Washing up liquid, sponges and dish cloths, hand towel and tea towels, antibacterial biocide spray cleaner and bin bags.

Clothes washing tablets, Vanish and softener.

Foil and cling film, plastic food containers for use during your stay, kitchen paper, salt and pepper mills.

Most kitchen implement requirements such as pots and pans, serving dishes, masher, tin opener, whisk, grater, knives, weighing scales,  mixing bowls.

If there is something in particular you would like to be in the apartment, please get in touch and we will do our best to help.

If you’re staying for 6 nights or more, we’ll change your linen and clean your property on a weekly basis. This takes place every Wednesday.

We can also provide an additional full clean for £25.

As we are a working farm and the safety of our guests is our priority, we don’t feel that these apartments are ideal for children, however, should you wish to bring your little ones along, we can of course provide you with a cot and a high chair.

Those looking to work, surf the web or stream their favourite TV show or film can do so with ease as free wifi is provided with each property.

Prior to your arrival, you’ll be given access details for the gate. We’ll also provide you with a contact telephone number should you require assistance upon your arrival.

Arrival and departure time

You can arrive from 3pm onwards. Please leave your accommodation by 10am on your departure day unless we have agreed otherwise.

Cancellation and changes to bookings

Please check everything we send you about your booking and let us know straight away if any of the information is wrong. We will do our best to make any changes to your booking but it may not always be possible. You may cancel your booking at any time. Any changes or cancellations must be made in writing. Our terms and conditions contain full details of our cancellation policy and changes to bookings policy including any relevant fees or charges.

Pets and assistance dogs

We regret that we do not allow your pets to join you at The Old Granary.
Assistance dogs are very welcome. There will be no extra charge and we will do all we can to support their stay.

Smoking policy

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in The Old Granary or immediately outside the building where smoke will disturb other guests. There will be some provision for smokers away from the building. Please do not smoke in the farm yard, sheds or near dry crops or straw.

Damage to the property/breakages

You must leave the property in a clean and tidy condition. Damage caused to The Old Granary or its contents must be reported immediately. Guests are liable for the cost of replacement and repairs.

Personal Injury or loss of property

We cannot accept liability for death or injury sustained by any guest or for the loss or damage to any guest’s property brought on to the premises including vehicles.

Insurance

Visitors are responsible for obtaining their own holiday/travel/cancellation insurance.

Safety

We want you to have a safe and enjoyable stay with us and we are keen to explain our work on the farm to you. The Old Granary is set within the working farm yard of Manor Farm and farm machinery will be operating there. There is also a pond and a reservoir nearby. Sometimes people shoot on our land (but dates for this will be put on nearby noticeboards and can be found on the FAQ section of the website). You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of any children with you at all times. Please stay away from machinery in the farmyard and do not enter fields where machinery is operating. Please drive carefully on farm roads and leave gates as you find them. Read any notices and ask us if you are unsure of where you can go.

CCTV

Guests must be aware that a CCTV system is in operation at the farm yard and in the vicinity of The Old Granary. This is for the safety and security of guests and others accessing the farm yard.

We are a working farm, which means that normal farming life will continue around the barns throughout the year. Certain times of the year are busier than others, but it usually won’t affect the enjoyment of your stay. All our windows are fitted with Stadip Silence Glass and all of the apartments are well insulated with phenolic (noise cancelling) insulation. Farm traffic does not have any visibility into any of the apartments.

Tractors and lorries will access the yard throughout the year, but on the whole we are busier during grain and potato harvest between August and October. Our grain driers may be operating aII day and night during harvest which is common practice across all cereal farms. If you would like to talk to us about this before placing a booking, please don’t hesitate to call and we can explain in more detail.
