Manor Farm is currently being farmed by the second and third generation of the same family. Growing potatoes, cereals and sugar beet, the farm has also been part of a successful environmental scheme for the last 13 years, encouraging biodiversity and developing soil health across the farm.
Sisters, Clare and Louise, have both returned to join Paul and Kate Knapton on the family farm after working in Event Management in London for nearly ten years.
We start the new year on the farm full of optimism that the sun will start to shine in Lincolnshire! In a standard year, all the winter wheat would have been drilled by the end of October last year however, due to the extreme wet winter, only 65% of these winter crops are in the ground. Along with many other farmers we are now looking at changing our cropping for the coming year to include more spring sown crops such as spring barley. On a positive note the Oil Seed Rape is looking well and the birds are feasting happily on our winter bird seed mix.
